@1aaskater1 It depends how you go about it, with private training or a schutzhund club. Being a part of a schutzhund club is usually a yearly cost and I would suggest you visit one, watch the training and trainers available at the clubs is a good place to start. prices vary.
I start training all my pups young… at 14 weeks it is more important to socialize your pup well… playing tug with them or having them go after a rag playing… Schutzhund clubs will start pups that young… look for a club around where you live.
you can see my 3 week old pups on youtube at “gs pup last cowboy song and rosie”. They are all American. Rosie is mine. They will be angulate. what do you think ? by the way ,I alway enjoy wathching your dog that you are training. Don’t get tired to watch too.I think You know pretty much about dog too. How old this dog by now? sincerely

i don’t think it’s a phenomenal video,it’s good,……in responce to rtegonline, if you buy a pup that has excellent (working)blood line’s that doesn’t mean that pup will make a schutzhund dog………..i bought a pup that came from some of the best GERMAN blood lines,………i had to get him put to sleep at 1 year old (hip dysplasia) but i must say that pup in the video has a great gripe
This is a phenomenal video. Excellent work! To those that doubt this gentleman’s techniques, if you know what to look for, you can see drastic improvement in this pups confidence in this short four and half minutes of training. You can tell that this pup has a great bloodline as well. Excellent work.
wow! great trainning ! very good agitation work , very well done, where did you learned to work on a dog like that ! it’s great….it creates a positive stimulus on a dog to be pated . How about another clip , thanks I learned a lot, from it!
Well that sounds fine to me. There are lots of methods to accomplish the same goals. Each person, each dog has different skills. The trick is to know what works for you and what works for your dog. There is no ONE right way. There are many ways. I am glad you found a method that works for you and your dog. Share some video of you and your dogs working. We love to share info. That is what makes youtube great.
hmm i was taught different for training however i was reccomended not to do any protection training until a year old and has all basic obiedence on and off leash perfected.
Well….it is a game. It’s Schutzhund training. Not personal protection training. The stroking of the head and the over head hand motions are designed to desensitise the dog to threatening motions from above. It’s designed to build courage and confidence. Remember this is a puppy six months old. We wanted her to have a good experience to build on. We do not want her to grow up fearful of anyone, but rather confident in her ability to defend.
im just wondering why the attacker is petting the dog when it bites that makes no sense and the dog isnt going to have a good bite. the dog is probably confused and just thinks this is a game..
The training does make the dog aggressive, but only on command. Right now she just thinks it’s play. Probably the only toy she ever had since the beginning of the training was the arm slip. Even as adults the dogs learn that attacking is a reward, and they’re happy to do it. Even though it’s a reward, however, they are conditioned to only attack when told. You should really only play with the dog at home when work is finished. People forget that they’re trained to be tools, and not pets more so.
wont this kind of training make the dog aggressive?but can you still play with the dog after she undergoes this kind of training?im going to get a female gsd soon..
thats cool! i have a german shepard hes 9weeks now and my step dad really wants me to go to training for this.
